Bath Camerata

Bath Camerata has won prizes in France, Italy and Ireland and, in 2002, won the Sainsbury's/BBC TV Adult Choir of the Year at the Royal Albert Hall, in London. The following year Bath Camerata was invited to perform with the "Three Tenors", Pavarotti, Domingo & Carreras in the Royal Crescent, Bath, while in the summer of 2007 the choir sang in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig where Bach was Cantor from 1723 -1750, and in the very recently reconstructed Frauenkirche in Dresden with its amazing acoustic.

In 2007 Bath Camerata commissioned a work from James MacMillan, which they premiered in their annual Good Friday concert in Wells Cathedral.

Bath Camerata have appeared in the Bath International Music Festival every year since 1992, performing repertoire ranging from mediaeval to contemporary. In the 2006 Festival an extended Bath Camerata gave two sold-out performances of Tallis's Spem in Alium in Bath Abbey, sharing the billing with Joanna McGregor and Brian Eno. In 2007 the choir were privileged to share a concert with Paco Peña, in a performance of his Missa Flemenco that stunned audiences at Bath Abbey and received a five-star review from The Times. Last year Bath Camerata was invited to join Joanna McGregor in presenting a specially commissioned work by Peter McGarr for the Festival's 60th anniversary at the Party in the City, while the female voices performed Messiaen's Trois Petites Liturgies in Bath Abbey with the Britten Sinfonia under Diego Masson – this concert was broadcast by BBC Radio 3.

Bath Camerata's discography includes two specialist CDs – one featuring the music of Robert Pearsall on the Meridian label and the other the music of Antonin Tucapsky on the Somm label. To Music, a CD of German romantic part-songs, was chosen as Gramophone magazine's Critic's Choice in 1999. The group shows another side of its versatility in the CD Light Fantastic, a collection of entertaining a cappella arrangements, and a recording of Christmas music, Christmas a Cappella, released in 2004.
